BMW i8 Concept Car shows Mirrorless at CES 2016 -

In this year's CES, BMW showed a concept of work to use cameras to replace rear view mirrors and rear view mirrors. Side-view mirrors and were a standard and compulsory part of a car from the beginning. often the drivers were using them before they change lanes to see if the next tracks are clear or when they park their cars. However, the side mirrors and rearview mirrors have their limitations as blind spot and lowest aerodynamic qualities of the car and the wind noise created.

BMW has found a way to replace these mirrors with cameras. There are four cameras installed around the car and the images the cameras at the end of the day, which will be posted on the mirror must be. The mirror is replaced by an LCD. The end result is a clear panoramic view, unlocked and off the circulation to the back and sides. Installed cameras are slimmer and more aerodynamic than conventional mirrors. In addition, they are covered by Gorilla Glass and come with heating element to melt the snow and ice; therefore, they are more weather resistant than conventional mirrors.

According to BMW's project manager Camera Monitor Systems, Philipp Hoffmann, they have improved the aerodynamics of the car 3 percent, leading to an increase of 1 percent in the range.

BMW will implement camera systems on BMW i8. Currently, the company is talking to government officials to change the rules that prescribe the use of real mirrors for lateral visibility. It is reported that tests on European roads will be launched this year as the approval of the US Department of Transportation will likely make for 2017.
