The automobile companies are moving towards the production of electronic vehicles for mass production. In addition to this, the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) the obligation to obtain an average US fleet of 54.5mpg by 2025, which means about 40mpg on the window sticker. The requirement made automakers to work even harder to improve the energy efficiency of their vehicles and their plug-in hybrids. With all this work, the cost will be higher making the price of the car to be higher too.

As the price of the car to be higher for electric car compare to the classic car, it seems to be more difficult to convince customers to buy electric cars. As the cost and maintenance of conventional cars could be cheaper because gas prices remain low. This could also be because consumers do not know what they are paying for.

Bryan Krulikowski a research firm Morpace Market Research and Consulting, said there were two factors contributing to this issue at a recent conference in Michigan. The first factor is the failure of the automaker to educate the public about electric powered cars. He further explained for example by giving the two manufacturers, Chevrolet Volt and Tesla. It seems that Tesla is doing a better job in marketing technology and come up with a better package than Chevrolet Volt. The buyer of that mark often left wondering why they are paying a high price for a car.

The second reason he mentioned is because of the extra time to answer questions, as well as financial incentives makes it attractive model for sales people to push as many sales of electric cars as possible consumers.

as the regulations will certainly force manufacturers to implement cleaner technology in the near future, companies may need to find a way to follow the rules and to educate consumers so that they are not pinched between.
