US government promised $ 4 billion investment for autonomous search - Driving

Car manufacturers are working on autonomous cars, some of them have already been the public test drive on the roads of California, the only thing left is to work on national policy and insurance for autonomous cars. The good news is that the US government began the process of definition of road policy for autonomous cars. In addition to this, he promises to invest $ 4 billion for research on autonomous driving over the next 10 years.

The investment is part of the 2017 budget proposal of President Obama. The main idea is to work together with technology companies and automakers to test connected and autonomous cars in designated lanes throughout the country and, possibly, over time, it will change to a broader policy.

DOT (US Department of Transportation) said he wanted to develop a political model of state on automated driving in the next six months and in the long term, then it could lead to a national policy consistent. DOT also asks automakers to submit requests for interpretation of the rules to see if their autonomous driving features such as self parking systems meet its standards. DOT also said that car manufacturers may request exemptions.

Ten years may seem like an eternity to some auto manufacturers. However, it still takes about two to three years to develop a new vehicle to Detroit and it's still challenges in the technology and regulatory policies that must be resolved. So it seems there is still a reasonable time.
