Daimler Confirmed Working on next generation electric vehicle that can travel -

Daimler seems to focus more on building plug-in hybrids rather than pure electric vehicle powered Tesla unlike that build pure electric vehicle (EV). However, all this will change with the confirmation of the head of Daimler's research and development, Thomas Weber who said they were working on an intelligent concept for a very attractive electric vehicle with 400-500 km range.

Daimler has already sold some electric vehicles such as EV versions of Smart or Mercedes B class, but they are not an all-electric vehicle from the ground. When asked whether the new vehicle currently under development would be based on Class A and B, Weber replied that perhaps, but perhaps more because their innovative approach would naturally be used not only one vehicle.

As Daimler is based in Germany, the range is more likely to be based on the European Driving Cycle (NEDC), which is more generous than traditional assessments of EPAs. Tesla S 85D is calculated at 270 miles EPA noted while according to the NEDC standard, it is calculated to 330 miles. Most likely the kind of range that Daimler has said will be up to the current offer of Tesla.

Since the emission standard becomes more every year, car manufacturers are looking for ways to comply by using new technologies. Nissan, General Motors, BMW and Tesla prefers to use battery powered while Toyota, Honda and Hyundai preferred hybrids or fuel cells. Daimler other hand, seems to invest all alternative fuel technologies to see which one works best.
