Vinli, a startup company based in Dallas, has developed a device that is able to connect your old car Internet. Therefore, if you have a Honda Civic 1997 or any vehicle that has made after 1996, you can turn it into a smart car by plugging the device into the diagnostic port of the vehicle. The device will then provide a Wi-Fi hotspot and a suite of applications and services.

Because of this, Vinli raised $ 6.5 million in Series A financing round led by Samsung Venture Investment Group. In addition to this, it is also attended by Cox Automotive, The Westly Group and Continental. Vinli is reported to use the funding to develop partnerships in the areas of automotive and technology as well as invest in engineering, research and development that will hopefully increase sales.

The device is known as Vinli dongle supports iOS and Android which includes GPS, 4G, LTE, Wi-Fi hotspot as well as advanced reporting capabilities of the accident. In addition, the company also installed an open platform for developers to create applications and propose solutions to the platform. The company is reported to the machine mass production now and the first units expected to ship in August
