Earlier this year, the CEO of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer, hinted that the company was working on a version of the electric car sedan Rapide model who claims to have zero emissions. He further indicated that the origin of the company does not intend to make an electric car, however, to follow the more stringent environmental regulations, the company decided to do so. The first production of the electric car will be launched sometime in 2017.

Palmer said the electric car will have 1000 horsepower and all-wheel drive. He added that the prototype is ready; it's just that engineers are currently working to achieve 50/50 weight distribution by adjusting the distribution of the battery cells. There is no confirmation on the price tag, but with the standard Rapide priced at $ 205,000, the electric version will be priced somewhere between $ 0,000 - $ 250,000 range. Tesla Model S is priced at $ 142,000 for the highest specification model.

Palmer also took the opportunity to confirm the development of electric utility vehicle named DBX. It was shown as a concept in 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle will initially be offered as a plug-in hybrid in 2019 whiles the pure gas and electric version launched in the following years. It will be launced with four doors, however, the company also considered a two-door versions.
